Player Notes
Aramis Ramirez is in the Pirates lineup and batting cleanup against the Nationals on Saturday.

Advice: It'll be the first time that the 37-year-old has taken the field as a member of the Pirates since he was traded during the 2003 season. Prior to the trade, Ramirez was hitting .247/.295/.430 with 11 homers and 42 RBI in 81 games for the Brewers.

Pirates acquired 3B Aramis Ramirez and cash considerations from the Brewers for RHP Yhonathan Barrios.

Advice: And just like that, Ramirez is back where it all started. With both Josh Harrison and Jordy Mercer sidelined, the Pirates were in need of some infield depth and Ramirez has been swinging the bat better of late, though he has an underwhelming .247/.295/.430 batting line on the year. Still, he now has a chance to go out a winner with the team who signed him.

Craig Calcaterra of HardballTalk reports are trading for Brewers third baseman Aramis Ramirez.

Advice: Meanwhile, Bill Brink of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that the Pirates are close to an agreement on a deal. Ramirez, of course, was originally signed by Pittsburgh and played his first six seasons in the majors with the club. The 37-year-old is batting .247/.295/.430 with 11 home runs and 42 RBI over 81 games this season and would give Pittsburgh some depth with Josh Harrison sidelined.

Aramis Ramirez went 3-for-3 with a homer and two RBI in Saturday's 8-5 win over the Pirates.

Advice: Ramirez hit a solo shot in the bottom of the fifth inning and an RBI single in the bottom of the sixth as the last-place Brewers took a second straight game from the hard-charging Bucs. The veteran third baseman has a disappointing .243 batting average and .294 on-base percentage this season, but he has managed 11 home runs and 41 RBI in 78 games. He'll probably be on the move as the July 31 trade deadline approaches.
