RF Geoff Jenkins usually starts for the Phillies against right-handed pitching. Not last weekend. Jenkins, mired in a 2-for-41 slump, took a seat on the bench against Rangers RHPs Vicente Padilla and Eric Hurley. Jenkins is hitless in his last 26 at-bats and has watched his average drop nearly 50 points from .288 on June 2 to .239. He has been working with manager Charlie Manuel and hitting coach Milt Thompson to correct a flaw in his swing. "It's actually a simple adjustment," Jenkins told the Philadelphia Inquirer. "I have to lower my hands a little bit so that my elbow just relaxes. Over the course of your career, you make adjustments. I've been working on it the last couple days, and it feels great."

Jenkins went 0-for-3 Thursday and is now in a 0-for-26 slump.
Recommendation: It's too early to say if Jenkins is in the midst of a cliff season, but given that he turns 34 in about a month, he can't be too far from his sell-by date.
