C Jorge Posada (right shoulder) continued taking small steps toward a return from the disabled list. He did some throwing Thursday and was expected to do some more rehab work with the Yankees during their upcoming home stand. If there are no problems after that, he will start a rehab assignment at the Yankees' spring training complex in Tampa or in the minors.

Posada (shoulder) felt strong after playing catch on Monday, but he's still going to be out of action until at least early June, the New York Times reports.
Recommendation: "Weve got to build his legs up after we build his arm up," manager Joe Girardi said. "So it's going to take some time." The Yankees' offense has struggled without Posada and Alex Rodriguez (quadriceps) in the lineup, but it's clear that neither player is going to be rushed back ahead of schedule.

Posada took batting practice for the second time since going on the 15-day disabled list on April 28 with right rotator cuff tendinitis. The switch-hitter remains on target to start a light throwing program Monday.
Advice: Posada is expected to be out at least another month with this injury, which will not require surgery at least until the offseason. "It's coming around good," Posada said. Posada was hitting .302 with a homer and 11 RBIs this season before he was hurt.
