RHP Mariano Rivera, who's thrown the last pitch in so many Yankee victories over the years, was given the honor of throwing out the first pitch before Tuesday night's game. Rivera, who earned his 500th save Sunday, was greeted by longtime battery mate Jorge Posada, who moved in front of the plate to catch the toss from the "old-timer." |

Rivera became the second reliever to reach the 500-save milestone when the Yankees held off the punchless Mets 4-2 on Sunday for a Subway Series sweep. Advice: He joined Milwaukee's Trevor Hoffman, who has 571 saves, as the only major leaguers with 500. The right-hander pitched a one-hit ninth for his 18th save in 19 chances this season. It was the 110th time Rivera has gone more than one inning for a save. |

Rivera converted his 500th career regular season save in Sunday's win over the Mets. Recommendation: As an added bonus, Rivera also drew a bases loaded walk to drive in a run. Only Trevor Hoffman (571) has more career saves. |
