LHP Andy Pettitte again showed he was well worth the low-ball investment the Yankees made in signing him as a free agent in the offseason. Pettitte, who took a substantial pay cut, picked up his eighth win with one of his crisper starts, going seven innings and allowing two runs on six hits.

Pettitte held the Mariners to two runs on six hits in seven innings Wednesday to pick up his eighth win of the season.
Recommendation: Pettitte's biggest trouble came in the fourth, when Seattle put runners on the corners with one out. The man on third was able to score, but Pettitte ended the inning with a groundout and a pick off. He allowed a home run to Ken Griffey, Jr., but the ball flew out of the yard four times Wednesday night.
