DH Gary Sheffield had an RBI single in the eighth inning, a line shot to left. Sheffield seems to be still a little off in his timing, but when he hits the ball it comes off the bat like a rocket.

Recommendation: Sheffield is 6-for-13 with two home runs in three games since returning from the disabled list. He should be picked up if he was dropped in any shallow leagues.

Sheffield, who returned Tuesday from the disabled list, hit a solo home run for Detroit in the bottom of the ninth inning to force the game to extras on Thursday. The Tigers beat St. Louis 3-2 in 10 innings.
Advice: In three games since returning from an oblique strain, Sheffield is 6-for-13 with two home runs. In his last eight games dating back to May 22, he's hitting .412 (14-for-34) with three homers and eight RBIs.
