Arizona D-Backs' Slade Cecconi Historically Perfect in Early Goings of Latest Loss

Once again, Arizona Diamondbacks right-hander Slade Cecconi was absolutely dominant out of the gates Tuesday night against the Cincinnati Reds. Per PHNX Sports' Jesse Friedman, Cecconi became the first MLB pitcher in the last 50 years to be perfect through 2.0 innings in five consecutive starts. Cecconi issued a walk to open the third, but then retired the side to escape the frame unscathed. Unfortunately for the D-Backs, though, Cecconi was once again unable to keep up that dominance his second time through the lineup.

Greene pitches 7 sharp innings, Reds beat Diamondbacks 6-2 after ugly loss

Hunter Greene pitched seven effective innings, Will Benson hit a two-run homer and the Cincinnati Reds bounced back from a difficult loss with a 6-2 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday night. Arizona handed the reeling Reds a 6-5 loss on Monday night on Kevin Newman's two-run single in the bottom of the ninth inning. Cincinnati gave the Diamondbacks no chance of another late rally, racking up 13 hits while scoring six runs between the fourth and sixth innings.

Corbin Carroll's clutch RBI leads Diamondbacks to sweep of Reds

Corbin Carroll drove in the game-winning run in the eighth inning and Paul Sewald collected his first save of the season in a 5-4 Arizona Diamondbacks win to sweep the Cincinnati Reds at Great American Ballpark on Thursday. The D-backs opted to leave catcher Tucker Barnhart on second base instead of using a pinch runner with two outs and Carroll digging in. Carroll got his hands around a cutter up-and-in the zone to shoot a single to center off Fernando Cruz, and Barnhart snuck his foot in ahead of the tag at home without a dive.
