A not-so-subtle message arrived last July for Gage Workman: He was being demoted. Not the direction expected — not three years into his Tigers farm career as a man then 23 years old, and who then was a, 6-foot-4, 200-pound, switch-hitting infield prodigy the Tigers had scooped with their fourth-round pick in the 2020 MLB Draft. Workman is back at Erie this spring, playing third base, shortstop, and second base. One of the more skilled all-around athletes on the Tigers' farm has said goodbye to switch-hitting and has opted for a more natural, left-handed set-up.
Juan Brito homered for the Clippers. Brito and Jose Tena had two hits apiece.
