An errant pitch hit Padres infielder Edgar Gonzalez in the head so hard, his brother-teammate momentarily lost the ability to stand. That's one of the ways Adrian Gonzalez(notes) described the frightening moments of Saturday night when Edgar was beaned with a 93-mph fastball by Rockies right-hander Jason Hammel(notes).

Brace yourself for the VIDEO clip, folks.

Edgar was hospitalized Saturday night and kept there most of Sunday before being released. Though he never lost consciousness, Edgar experienced concussion symptoms, including dizziness, a whopper of a headache, ringing in his ears and a loss of hearing. He's going on the 15-day disabled list and the Stew obviously wishes him the best.

At the moment of impact, Adrian Gonzalez feared his brother was in much worse shape. Adrian, though he's nearly four years younger, seemed to have one of those out-of-body experiences that twins reportedly sometimes feel when the other has a trauma.

"I was in the video room and I saw it happen on TV and I just felt like I lost all my strength," Adrian Gonzalez said. "I tried to get up and go outside. I felt like I might fall to the ground if I got up, so I stayed in the chair."

The next few moments weren't any easier for him to watch. Adrian was so shaken, he left the game and went with his brother to the hospital. The Padres eventually won, 3-1.

Hammel's pitch hit Gonzalez flush in the helmet on the left side, just missing his face.

EMTs would help Edgar into a cart, which rolled him to an ambulance, and Adrian was close behind, concerned for his brother's well-being.

"Once I saw the trainers get him up and started moving him around, I knew he was all right," Adrian said. "But still you don't know until you get results of the tests."
