Update: 3rd man dies after fatal Wheaton Way crash, Bremerton police say

BREMERTON — Authorities have identified two California men killed in a crash along Wheaton Way early Saturday morning. A third passenger in the vehicle that crashed, a 26-year-old man from Atlanta, died the following day, according to Bremerton police.

The Kitsap County Coroner's Office named the two California men as 21-year-old Alexander M. Ruiz of Vacaville, and 23-year-old Touder Yang of Merced. The cause of death for both men was listed as blunt force trauma.

According to Bremerton police, officers originally responded at about 2 a.m. Saturday to a vehicle that had crashed into a building near Wheaton Way's intersection with Sheridan Road. Two of the occupants, Ruiz and Yang, were dead when officers arrived, and two others were flown to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with serious injuries.

Police said Tuesday that the driver of the vehicle, a 21-year-old man from New Jersey, was in "satisfactory" condition at Harborview. Lt. Aaron Elton said Tuesday that the crash remains under investigation and that the driver was facing the potential of "pretty significant" criminal charges.

Police said the vehicle had been northbound on Wheaton Way "at a high rate of speed" when it crossed into the southbound lanes and went airborne before striking the building. Police said they believed that alcohol and speed were factors in the crash.
