Training kicks off again for young Gaza amputees

Young amputees kick-off training

as lockdown eases in Gaza

Some lost their limbs in conflict

and football is part of their rehabilitation

(SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) YOUNG PALESTINIAN AMPUTEE SOCCER PLAYER, WEAM AL ASTAL, SAYING:

"I did not let anything affect me, I am living my life normally, everyone around me is supporting me. I joined the soccer team, it was the first time I played and it felt really good to play sports, and we had a lot of fun."

Authorities recently reopened facilities

// like restaurants,

sports clubs,

and mosques //

and these young athletes couldn’t wait

The league is run by the Palestine Amputee Football Association

while the International Committee of the Red Cross

provides uniforms and crutches
