Rockies starter Marquez leaves game with cramping

Colorado Rockies starting pitcher German Marquez left Wednesday's game against the Los Angeles Dodgers with full-body cramping, the team said.

The right-hander was having one of his best starts of the season, striking out a season-high 10 and allowing just two hits through six scoreless innings.

Marquez went to the mound to start the seventh inning. But as he was completing his warmup pitches, he hopped off the mound favoring his right leg.

He was attended to by the training staff and manager Bud Black. He was helped off the field and into the clubhouse by head trainer Keith Dugger and pitching coach Steve Foster.

Reliever Jake McGee came on and struck out the side in the seventh after issuing a leadoff walk.

Marquez, 24, entered the game with a 10-5 record and a 4.88 ERA through 23 starts.
