One person dies Friday after being hit by car on Interstate 5 in Salem

One person died after walking into traffic on Interstate 5 in Salem Friday night.

According to Oregon State Police, Christina Klug of Lebanon exited a vehicle parked in the median of the interstate near exit 254 in Salem.

Police said she walked into a lane of travel and was struck by a vehicle traveling southbound. She died at the scene.

The driver remained on the scene and cooperated with the police.

Traffic was backed up for at least three hours Friday after the crash.

On Wednesday, a bicyclist was struck and killed on Interstate 5 near exit 260 in Salem.
