The March 8 trade deadline is fast approaching, and numerous Philadelphia Flyers have cropped up on various trade boards. Most Stanley Cup contending teams look to add at the deadline, and the rebuilding Flyers have some players at premium positions available.
The Flyers' injury bug won't be squashed by the weekend. Originally, the team thought that the “minor” injuries to Tyson Foerster (lower body) and Rasmus Ristolainen (upper body) would be short-term with each hoping to be back for the Stadium Series game against the New Jersey Devils on Saturday. Instead, Foerster “needs a few extra days” — it's not expected to be a long-term issue — but Ristolainen now has no set timetable. The loss of Ristolainen leaves a little bit of a hole on the blue line.
In today's NHL rumors rundown, the Vancouver Canucks have confirmed that Phil Kessel is in Abbotsford skating with the AHL team. Is he signing with the Canucks? Meanwhile, an injury to Rasmus Ristolainen has likely taken him off of the NHL trade bait board. Morgan Rielly is filing an appeal after being handed a five-game suspension.
