The role of an enforcer may be a dying breed in the NHL, but Matt Rempe is doing all he can to keep it alive. The Rangers' 21-year-old rookie made his debut in the league just over two months ago, but he already is making a name for himself. Rempe wasted no time in establishing himself as one of the heavyweights in the NHL, willing to take on any and all contenders in a fight. There are adjustments that Rempe certainly needs to make to his game, including controlling his body more to decrease the amount of dangerous hits he throws.
New York Islanders veteran winger Matt Martin was sidelined for Game 4 of his team's first-round series against the Carolina Hurricanes due to a lower-body injury, head coach Patrick Roy announced before puck-drop Saturday afternoon. In his place will step 23-year-old rookie Ruslan Iskhakov, who has just one game of NHL experience. Facing a 3-0 hole, Saturday could be the Islanders' final game of the season with a loss and could end Martin's career with a franchise he has spent 13 of the last 15 years with.
Goals from Brent Burns, Dmitry Orlov and Sebastian Aho gave the Hurricanes a 3-2 win over the Islanders in Game 3.
