    Serbia leases ex-army HQ in Belgrade to Trump son-in-law's firm

    The Serbian authorities and Jared Kushner's U.S.-based investment firm Affinity Global Development, signed a 99-year lease deal on Wednesday, allowing the company to overhaul two buildings which housed the headquarters of the former Yugoslav People's Army. The Serbian construction ministry said in a statement that the "reputable American company" connected to Kushner, the son-in-law of U.S. former President Donald Trump, was chosen for the work it described as "revitalisation of the compound." It did not specify the value of the investment, nor the deadline for its completion.

    FIFA members to vote on the host of the 2027 Women's World Cup

    The FIFA Congress will pick from a winnowed field of two candidates to host the 2027 Women's World Cup at its meeting in Bangkok this week. A joint bid by the United States and Mexico was pulled late last month, and South Africa withdrew its candidacy in November. It's the first time that all 211 of FIFA's members associations will have the opportunity weigh in on the host of the women's tournament.
