Mounting Mets injuries force catcher Travis d'Arnaud to make start at 3B
Mounting injuries to the Mets roster resulted in an unusual face at third base for Wednesday's matchup with the Yankees — catcher Travis d'Arnaud.
After scratching infielders Wilmer Flores and Jose Reyes due to a pair of rib injuries, manager Terry Collins called on d'Arnaud at the Hot Corner. The 28-year-old was so unprepared to play the position he actually had to borrow David Wright's glove.
Travis d'Arnaud is using David Wright'a glove tonight. Asked him for some pointers before the game. "I'll be ready."

In 360 major league games, d'Arnaud has started all but one as the catcher. To call his pregame warmups at third a crash course may be a bit of an understatement.
Outfielders Brandon Nimmo and Curtis Granderson are the only two Mets players available off the bench Wednesday. If the injury bug strikes the infield again, Collins may have to get really creative.
