Cardinals prospect Tekoah Roby earns win despite home run trouble: Minor League Report

After allowing six runs in his last start, Cardinals prospect Tekoah Roby earned his second win of the season after completing 5 1/3 innings and allowing three runs — two of which were unearned — as Double-A Springfield's starter in the first game of a Wednesday doubleheader vs. Northwest Arkansas. The righty walked three batters and struck out four, giving him 30 strikeouts in 28 2/3 innings over six starts. With a runner on base and one out in the third inning, Roby induced a popup into foul territory on the first pitch he threw to Northwest Arkansas's Tyler Tolbert but had the at-bat extended after an error on the play by first baseman Chandler Redmond.

Cardinals prospects Thomas Saggese, Victor Scott homer for Memphis: Minor League Report

Coming off an April in Triple-A during which he slugged .407 in 81 at-bats, Cardinals infield prospect Thomas Saggese began May with a jolt. The 22-year-old infielder clubbed a solo home run as a part of a two-for-four performance in Triple-A Memphis's 7-3 Wednesday road win over Charlotte. The home run, Saggese's third of the year, jumped off his bat at 106.5 mph and traveled a projected 397 feet, per Statcast. The solo home run marked Saggese's first since April 19.

Cardinals prospect Tink Hence K's 10 in longest outing of pro career: Minor League Report

Looking to bounce back from his shortest outing of the minor league season, Cardinals prospect Tink Hence responded on Tuesday with perhaps the best of his professional career to this point in his development. The 21-year-old right-hander allowed one run over a career-high seven innings while striking out a career-high 10 batters in Double-A Springfield's 6-2 road win against Tulsa. Hence's 94 pitches in the start were the most he's thrown in a minor league game. A leadoff walk issued by Hence to begin the third inning was followed by a single and a sacrifice fly, which plated the only run Tulsa pushed across vs. the righty.
