John Cena Donates to Black Lives Matter: ‘Be Brave and Open Minded’
It looks like John Cena is not only a K-Pop fan, but is also joining the movement for racial equality following the wrongful murder of George Floyd. The WWE star recently announced that after seeing K-Pop supergroup BTS donate $1 million to the Black Lives Matter organization and their fans (affectionately called BTS ARMY) matching them less than a day later, he has decided to join in on their combined efforts and donate as well.
It all started on Monday, when Cena, already a big fan of the Korean supergroup, took to Twitter, retweeting and commenting how much he admired the band for standing up and condemning racial inequality. A few minutes later, he followed up that not only was he going to contribute to the ARMY’s #MatchAMillion campaign, but he would be glad to do so.
“Very happy to join #BTSARMY in efforts to match @BTS_twt tremendous donation,” he wrote, although he never actually disclosed how much money he would be contributing.

After the announcement, the pro wrestler decided to continue the conversation by tweeting the next day about the importance of being aware and ready for a greater social change worldwide.
“Change is never easy because it takes us admitting that our efforts and methods may be flawed to the point of severe distortion,” he wrote. “Be brave and open minded in these moments. Welcome ideas and limit excuses. Change is uncomfortable, but can yield much more joy for all in the long run.”

This isn’t the first time that Cena has expressed his thoughts since the protests began. He also gave his support and praise for fellow WWE star Titus O’Neil’s efforts to fight for racial equality on the platform, while imploring his own fans to do the same.

The K-Pop stans have also been very busy with using their voices to stand up for the cause, using fan videos of the group and other popular K-Pop acts to thwart police threats to arrest those who might have done damage during what were considered to be peaceful protests.
