Highlights
Leveille is literally a spur-of-the-moment skater. After only two months of trading in his inline skates for short track speedskates, Leveille won a bronze medal in the 500m and 3000m at the 2004 U.S. Short Track National Championships. A few months later in a freak short track training accident, he broke his back. After four months of being in a full-body cast, Leveille entered the U.S. Speedskating training program in Colorado Springs, CO and a few months later at the 2005 U.S. Championships, he finished seventh in the time trial (his first time trial race ever) and 10th overall.
Start-up
Leveille made the switch to long track in August 2005. In October 2005, he qualified to compete as a member of the 2006 Fall World Cup Team. At the 2006 U.S. Long Track Championships, Leveille won a silver medal in the 10,000m and a bronze medal in the U.S. Men’s Allround standings.
