Raiders fascinated with Gholston?

At a time when many league observers believe that the Oakland Raiders won't be able to resist the 4.33 speed of running back Darren McFadden with the fourth overall pick in the draft, a league source tells us that there are "strong indications" that the Raiders will select Ohio State linebacker/defensive end Vernon Gholston according to Profootballtalk.com

Gholston's stock has improved dramatically as a result of pre-draft workouts. If drafted by the Raiders, he would likely supplant Jay Richardson at right defensive end.

And if the Raiders pass on McFadden, look for the Cowboys to try to make a move north, possibly by trading their two first-round picks (No. 22 and No. 28 overall) to the Jets at No. 6 or the Patriots at No. 7.

    Need. More. Offense.
    Erk.
Got too much wrapped up on the D side of the ball this off season.
While this guy could be outstanding, and while defense wins championships, the greatness of da Raider's might be best served by getting a play maker for Russel.

Bolstering their line makes more sense than adding another RB. Would he be the 5th?!?

Gholston is exactly the right player for the raiders. McFadden is attractive, but the Raiders have one of the deepest backfields in the NFL, and we haven't even seen what Michael Bush can do yet. Anyone who wartched OSU-Michigan last year saw Gholston absolutely blow up a very good UM offensive line. The guy is a freak of a pass rusher but a natural linebacker that can drop back and cover Antonio Gates, Tony Gonzalez and the rest. GHOLSTON!!!

If there is one thing the raiders dont lack is a good d-line.They need offense....BADLY.Gholston has the makings of a Derrick Thomas,or a Lawrence Taylor, but the Raiders have more pressing needs....no this kid will probably end up yet another star on the clouds of linebacking heaven out in New England....YIKES!!

True, that the Raiders has a top LB core.
But this LB/DE guy Gholston from Ohio State is "not human".
It will be very interesting draft day.
    Da......Raiders!

The Raiders absolutely need to continue to build a brick wall defense. We have excellent RB's and we have yet to see what Bush has to offer... Fargas is going to have a great year!

Gholston is good, but the Raiders have much bigger needs. Their O-line is still terrible, they could use a good DT, and they are very thin at WR. They should take Jake Long, Glenn Dorsey, or Darren McFadden in that order...

well, yeah, as a Pat's fan, I reckon you had better know that saying ;)
I'm just saying that I'd be nice to the offense score more. Particularlly more than the Ravens of thier Super Bowl year, what was their offense averaging, like 9 or 11 point a game? While defense does help, you simply cannot rely on them to score the majority of the points all the time, right?
P.S. I want to fight Tony Siagusa.

The Raiders have running backs, 4 of them. What we need over here is a run D. With this guy on one side and Derrik B on the other, it would be greatly improved.
Memo to Al Davis; Draft to fill our needs, not your ego!

18 i still think Gallery can be the Lineman they wanted.if you watch him play.his feet are horrible.they have to work on his feet and hip.gets knocked of balance easy.He still can be the beat they drafted him to be.But the coaches have to see that.

i think with J Marc .If the Raiders employed a 3 wr 1 tite 1 RB system with the QB in the shallow gun the Raiders would be a force to be reckoned with.I hate the Tradtioinal Pro formations.
