The Carolina Panthers may not be able to pick Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck with the first pick in this year's draft, but the team will be headed in a new direction, anyway, with a new coach since John Fox was fired after leading the team for nine seasons.
Word out of Charlotte is that New York Giants defensive coordinator Perry Fewell is a "very strong candidate" and "perhaps the favorite," the New York Post reports. He met with Panthers executives Thursday to discuss the job.
According to the Post, Fewell has three other defensive coordinators as competition for the head-coaching job with the Panthers: Ron Rivera of the San Diego Chargers, Rob Ryan of the Cleveland Browns, and Greg Manusky of the San Francisco 49ers.
