Will Miami Dolphins’ Dion Jordan be the Comeback Player of the Year?

He’s almost back. The third pick in the 2013 NFL Draft Dion Jordan is potentially very ready to make a return to the NFL after a year off for a violation of the league’s drug policy. Though I was personally not expecting much from him this year, apparently his agent is.

Having not spoken about Jordan since his suspension last year, agent Doug Hendrickson took to twitter to post the following about Dion Jordan and what he expects from him this season, should he be reinstated.

That’s a bold prediction considering Jordan was never really involved while he was on the field early in his career. However, with an aging defensive line that will likely need rest on later downs, Jordan could get some good playing time if he proves himself to the coaches.

Though he showed talent in college at the University of Oregon, Jordan does not really have a large sample size to judge him on in the NFL. If he had been on the field more during his early years, we may have something better to gauge his potential this season on.

Without that, it’s hard to say what Jordan will provide this season. With a hopefully much simpler defensive scheme this season, he should be able to re-adapt to the team quickly. Also giving him an edge upon his return will the chip on his shoulder to prove not only to the Miami Dolphins but to the fans as well that he is not a draft bust.

Getting on the field will be important this season for Jordan. If he manages to get some reps on second and third down, he should be given the opportunity to prove himself as a good edge rusher.

However, should Dion Jordan fail to make an impact with the Miami Dolphins this season, he could quickly find himself on his way out of Miami with very few teams willing to take on an extremely risky edge rusher.
