The Atlanta Falcons secondary went from putrid in 2014 to promising in 2015, and they may be looking to add another veteran to make it even better.

On Tuesday, the team met with cornerback Leon Hall:

Hall was taken 18th-overall by the Cincinnati Bengals in 2007, and has played his entire career there. He was a Second-team All-Pro in 2009, and has been one of the most underrated players at the position.

Through nine seasons in the NFL, Hall has racked up 26 interceptions, 111 passes defended, five forced fumbles and has four defensive touchdowns.

The Falcons could surely benefit from adding another veteran to help out Desmond Trufant, in fact, they really need it after failing to draft another corner in 2016. The New Orleans Saints offense has always gotten the better of the Falcons defense, and with new receiver Michael Thomas in the fold, Atlanta will be greatly challenged.

Also, Kelvin Benjamin will return to the Carolina Panthers offense after missing all of 2015, so the Falcons talent in the secondary may not be good enough. Adding a veteran like Hall would be huge, and could still mentor Trufant into being an even better cornerback.

At 31-years-of age, Hall will not command top dollar and is probably happy with a one-year deal, so the Falcons have nothing to lose out of this. It’d make sense for both sides to come to an agreement.
