The Charlotte Bobcats have signed veteran point guard Earl Boykins for the remainder of the 2007-08 season on Thursday. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Boykins will join the Bobcats wearing jersey #11 on Friday when they face Golden State.

"Earl Boykins is a proven talent in this league and a player we feel very fortunate to add to our roster without having to disturb the chemistry and core of this team," said general manager Rod Higgins. "His production over the past few seasons was evidence enough that he could make an immediate impact, while adding experience and depth to our backcourt."

I heard they are going to make a bigger change and this could be them covering themselves so they can trade Felton to get a big.

He is a great player. I can not believe he was not signed by any team before now. The league is so week at the pure point guard position and now that zone is allowed, there isn't any excuse not to have him.. Smart move and I bet he makes a BIG difference!

I was hoping my Cavs would land him! He is a great player! There is probably no one else in the game as quick as he is. What a great addition.

Good move for Bobcats. When will anyone realize that Felton is not a big time point guard? Look, Bobcats made horrible decision in 2005 draft by not trading down and drafting Chris Paul. Look what Bickerstaff got instead, Felton and May, who may never play another game for the Cats. Poor ownership. Poor management. Poor coaching. Call it what is.

Man, i just wish the Jazz would have signed him as a back up PG, Hart and Price just do not play very well, they can play 10 mins and go scoreless with maybe one assist

#10... you mean by trading down and not drafting Chris Paul?
Bad decision by the Cats, but they couldn't predict that May would be this injury prone. But Felton wasn't top-5 stuff either. They probably could've swung some deals and gotten Paul and Andrew Bynum. Think how smart they would look now if they had done that.

I don't think Boykins is bad but I don't believe he is going to make an impact on this team winning. I mean hes got to be better than Mcinnis but still we need a pg that is better than Felton to win and I don't think he will be good enough. I think it will be kind of like having a healthy Brevin Knight again. I do think they made a smart move trading Brezic for Muhommad but we still need another big man not another small guard.

Im sorry but Felton is not this team's leader. Now they waited half the season to do what they needed to do months ago. Coulda been a little closer in this playoff hunt. Just think, they have Adam "Handlebar Mustache" Morrison to be proud of too. What a bunch of botched picks. They better be wise and not overpay Emeka, and build around J-Rich and Wallace. Go get Elton Brand for Emeka and Felton.!

The Bobcats have played 12 more home games than road games, and they are terrible on the road.
From today, until the end of the season, they will be the worst team in the NBA.
Maybe Bob Johnson should consider becoming an EOE (equal opportunity employer)?

Next year they will be special.
    Pg. Felton (solid Pg)
    Sg. J.Rich (scorer)
    Sf. Wallace (versatile scorer)
    Pf. Okafor (best player)
    C. Mohammed (plus if he continues next year) / May (if not return of May will help)
    6th. Boykins (solid scoring backup)
    7th. Morrison (flat out scorer)
8th. Carroll (can shoot) -Derek Anderson is said to retire this year that'll help this young team -
9th. Davidson/Dudey (two solid young studs)
    11th. Hollins/Harrington.
This team will be a fast paced scoring team that parallels to the Grizzlies three year playoff run fast moving offense.
