Amare "Stoudamire"/Stoudemire's 2008 Olympic Games jersey
$79.99, USA Basketball official store

Aside from slighting poor Chris Bosh, the USA Basketball store numbots also managed to misspell Amare's last name. Double burn. But hey, one hell of a collectors item. Better hurry and get one of these before STAT, Damon or Salim scoop 'em all up (Thanks, Jan)

Amare would not have been a good fit for Team USA...but I still would take the jersey.

I'm sure it wasn't a misspelling, they really did mean Damon or Salim.

They said they wanted "a Stoudamire" and people thought it was A. Stoudamire (as in Amare) but didn't realize that his name is spelled Stoudemire. And thus Mighty Mouse go shunned again.

If Amare's jumpshot was falling he would have been a great addition, since teams wouldn't be able to sink their center deep into the paint, which would open up slashing from Kobe, Wade and LeBron. Given how everybody lost their ability to hit the jumper consistently this tournament, though, it's probably better we focused on defense instead.

Euros were used to having their big men shoot from the perimeter though, so defending someone like amare wouldnt be foreign to them

If it wasn't for his knees, it would've been great to see Amare play in the Beijing Olympics. He & Dwight would be great in the frontcourt.

Amare would have been a great fit for Team USA, but even if they wanted to take him to Bejing, it woudn't have been a good idea to take a chance on pounding his knee after finally getting back on track after micro-fracture surgery. I know that Dwight Howard brings even more interior strength than Amare, but I think he is a better overall player. He has power with much more offensive power. He could hit his outside shots, and go inside. Howard is just a one trick pony and if he doesn't start building his shot repetoire he'll go down as one of the most overrated big men in NBA history. Even Shaq started hitting shots from 10ft away! Free throws are another story. Amare knows how to play defense now, when he wants to, but gets lazy. If his knees hold up he would be a great fit in the World Championship in 2010 in Turkey and the Olympics in 2010.

Chris Bosh was so much better than Howard in the Olympics! It shows you how much of a one trick pony he is. Overrated!!! When Shaq was young all he could do was dunk it too, but he also was more powerful than Howard even when he was thinner in Orlando. Howard got lost on Offense and Defense during the Olympics. He's just a great athlete that happens to be 6 "10, so he can over power most guys now, but if he doesn't improve he's going down hill fast.

Number 6...seriously? Amare has an excellent jumper. You obviously haven't been watching too many Suns games have you. Don't talk if you don't know what you're talking about.

Amare has a nice outside shot watch the game before you speak #6 , A Lot of you people only watch ball when the playoffs start. Yes i am glad Bosh got a chance to shine a little bit he much more well rounded than Dwight Howard. Howard is so overrated it is ridiculous. He made me so mad how lost he was on defense and to be that bad at shooting free throws is uncalled for. Most of u are right he better develope a shot or he will be done in a few!

number 12....did you read his post....so funny man so funny...he didnt say his jumper is not falling, the way he wrote it was if his jumper was falling, which in this case indicates that it usually does, he would have been a great addition...so funny...

Amare would've been a 100 times better fit on this team than Dwight Howard. The Suns play the same type of game as USA played... Run, run, run. Amare is the most athletic big man, is a great free throw shooter, and has great range. Dwight can only dunk the ball, can't make free throws, and was always in foul trouble. It would've been great to see Amare on the team, but I understand he had to turn down the invite to rest his knee.

Notice how the USA team did it without the likes of paul pierce, ray allen,KG,Amare, iverson, camby,Carter and why? cuz they put the best team out on the floor and none of those dudes where it. Kobe is the greatest of all time and looked like he was on the floor by himself the last ten mins of that game you "Rapist, ball hog,KOBE-ME,anti laker" fools need to admit it,need to jump to the roof tops and scream your love for kobe for kobe brought this great country GOLD. Dwade Kobe got the job done. and yo SKEETS IM IN YO HEAD KOBE ALL DAY LONG

#7, You're right, Euros are used to covering big guys on the perimeter. However, they don't cover guys like Stoudemire that is 6 "10 and is athletic as hell!!! He might just do a fake and go around them for a tomahawk slam!!! Not too many big guys in the world as athletic as he is.
#14, Stoudemire is the third best Center on the Suns? Well, first of all he really isn't a Center, and is back in his true position at Power Forward once they got Shaq. How the HELL can people argue about how good Stoudemire is?? He has been lazy on defense, but last year he really came a long way. I'm from Phx and have seen him play regularly. The guy is a Monster!!! I would take him over Dwight Howard any day!

amare hit a 3 pointer and several jumpers in that tournament, blocking shots and dunking the ball against the soft europeans. he shoots fts and makes it in a consistent basis.
