The St. Louis Cardinals and Texas Rangers don't need to submit rosters for the World Series until 10 a.m. on Wednesday and the word out of Texas is that there may be a change in the bullpen. The Rangers could be sending reliever Koji Uehara(notes) home and replacing him with Mark Lowe(notes), according to the Dallas Morning News.
The 28-year-old Lowe, who struck out 42 in 45 innings pitched during the regular season, has been out since Sept. 21 with a strained left hamstring. He threw batting practice Monday.
"We'll make a call on Mark Lowe," manager Ron Washington said, the News reports. "He's getting better, that's all I can say."
If Lowe gets added, the Morning News notes, it'll likely mean the end of the season for 36-year-old Uehara, whom the team added at the trading deadline from the Baltimore Orioles. Uehara has a playoff ERA of 33.75 and has allowed three homers in 1 1/3 innings of work.
