The New York Yankees will be the first stop on the free-agent tour of Jorge Posada, however, the veteran catcher told Newsday other teams have already contacted him.

"The Mets are interested; they've contacted us," Posada said. "The Mets, the Marlins, Toronto, all of them are interested."

While the Yankees are first on the list, Posada indicated he will not sign with anyone this week. The New York Daily News reported Tuesday that Posada is seeking a four-year deal. The News, quoting Yankee sources, said the Yankees have internally discussed an offer of three years and $40 million.

Isn't he another Boras client? Oh well watch Jorge follow the money. Imagine him with the marlins! lol like losing that regularly is going to sit well in his stomach. It would be nice to see him finish with the yanks as 1 team players are so rare these days but watch Minaya offer some ridiculously bloated 5 year deal to make Jorge a $15m/yr part time catcher at age 41 which is what he'll on the tail end of a contract like that. Granted both teams need him badly, but when does the pricetag just become stupid? Jorge wants a 5 year deal around 15m/yr and I doubt anyone but Minaya will dish that out to him. Unless Jorge's on the julio Franco workout program he's not worth more than 3. Oh well at least he can stay in the same home.

Didn't Hank say he doesn't want anyone on his team that doesn't want to be there? If Jorge wants to go we should let him. He should want to stay the only thing I could think of is he that he wants to get more money out of the Yankees. We don't need to resign him or Rivera...they are both getting really old, Posada has a few good years left but he has clashed with Girardi in the future and he call that well of a game.

Posada is ok. His better days are behind him. His defense is very suspect. It doesnt mattter if they re-sign him or not, the Red Sox and about to become a dynasty with their depth!!!

It would be great for Jorge to stay, for a multitude of reasons, He will be a calming influence to a Younger pitching staff both in pitch selection and setting the defense behind them. Offensively if he hits 280 with 15 to 20 dingers and 85 to 100 RBi's he would be in the middle to top of the pack for catchers. Also he could help groom his succesor. Part Time DH., this is one reason Tony Pena is also important to the ballclub. Jorge's defense has improved dramatically since Pena came on board. If he leaves watch his production and defensive skills will erode much quicker.

He's an infielder by trade. Started at 2nd base. some other backstop, converted to 3B and had a pretty good career.

posada is not a boras client. yanks could have signed him in the pre-season but wanted to wait around. now they will have to pay for a 4-year deal if they want him. Way to go Jorge!

He has to stay with the yankees, he should have a plaque in the new stadium with Mo, Jetter, O`Neill and Bernie, he did a better job as a pitching coach than Guidri. And he is the best catcher in majors,

I'm a little confused with some of you saying his best years are behind him. UMMM the guy had career highs in almost all of his offensive numbers this past year. That doesn't seem to be a player on the decline
