MLB - Scoop Du Jour

Gary Sheffield(notes) is planning to play one more season and he's apparently going to spend part of his off-season training with boxer Winky Wright so he can get down to 210 pounds, according to the New York Post. Sheffield is apparently interested in five teams for next year.

He would supposedly re-sign with the New York Mets if the team showed any interest, but that isn't believed to be a real option. He's also supposedly interested in one of his former teams and one of the Mets' rivals, the Florida Marlins. That other team in Florida, the Tampa Bay Rays, is on his list as well, which makes sense since he's a Tampa native.

But Texas also is of interest to Sheffield as well. Word is that he could end up with the Houston Astros or Texas Rangers..
