Player Notes
Kendall Graveman allowed three runs on seven hits across 5 2/3 innings in a no-decision against the Yankees on Thursday.

Advice: He struck out four and walked two. Same old story, here: The 24-year-old is effective when he keeps his mediocre stuff down, but it gets hit hard when left up in the zone (Brian McCann provided a nice example in the second inning). The A's probably wouldn't tolerate him in the rotation if they were contending, but they can afford to let him take his lumps. In fairness, Graveman has looked much better in his two starts since returning from demotion. Overall, he has a 5.79 ERA and a 1.68 WHIP.

Kendall Graveman pitched six shutout innings Saturday in the A's 5-0 blanking of the Rays.

Advice: That four-week stay at Triple-A seemed to do him some good. Graveman struck out six and gave up only three hits, lowering his ERA from 8.27 (where it sat when he was demoted on April 26) all the way down to 6.04. The 24-year-old should get another turn in the A's rotation, and it's likely to be next Thursday against the Yankees.

Athletics recalled RHP Kendall Graveman from Triple-A Nashville.

Advice: The right-hander will start for the A's on Saturday in place of the injured Drew Pomeranz. After struggling in the big league rotation, Graveman seems to have righted the ship, posting a 1.85 ERA over four starts at Triple-A.

Kendall Graveman will be recalled from Triple-A Nashville to start Saturday against the Rays.

Advice: That was the expectation already, but it's now official. Graveman, who will be replacing the injured Drew Pomeranz (shoulder) in the starting rotation, struggled to the tune of an 8.27 ERA over four starts prior to being demoted last month. However, he has bounced back in Triple-A by posting a 1.85 ERA over four starts.

Kendall Graveman is expected to be recalled to start on Saturday in Tampa.

Advice: He'll take Drew Pomeranz's (shoulder) spot in the rotation. Graveman was demoted last month after posting an 8.27 ERA and 2.02 WHIP over his four starts, but he's rebounded at Triple-A Nashville with a 1.85 ERA across four outings. It's not clear how long Pomeranz will be out, but Graveman could receive at least a couple starts.
