Player Notes
C.J. Cron went 0-for-3 and struck out twice Friday against the Tigers.

Advice: It's kind of odd that while the Angels chose Efren Navarro over Cron a week ago, Cron has started both games over Navarro since the Grant Green injury got him back to the majors. Cron was a certainty to start tonight against the left-handed Drew Smyly, but he also played over Navarro against a righty on Thursday. He's 1-for-7 with five strikeouts since his callup and 10-for-51 (.196) with one homer and an 18/2 K/BB ratio in 51 major league at-bats this month. He should be sitting in favor of Navarro against righties.

Angels recalled DH C.J. Cron from Triple-A Salt Lake.

Advice: Cron was just optioned over the weekend, but a back injury to Grant Green opened up a spot for the slugger. Cron is hitting .269./297/.480 with nine home runs with the big club this season, and although he was recently demoted it would be surprising if he didn't see a fair amount of playing time while he's up. The 24-year-old has good power and is worth a flyer in deeper mixed leagues where he's still available.

Angels first base prospect C.J. Cron went 2-for-4 with a walk in his return to Triple-A Salt Lake on Monday.

Advice: Cron hit .269/.297/.480 during his time in the majors, but just .233/.258/.383 over his last 15 games. It appears that the Angels are trying to keep an extra reliever on their roster, and Cron could be back up in the next few weeks, and no later than September 1.
