Player Notes
Tanner Roark allowed two runs over 4 1/3 innings of relief Saturday against the Giants.

Advice: Roark entered the game in the fourth inning after Stephen Strasburg left with an apparent side injury. He pitched well under the circumstances, allowing four hits while walking none and striking out three. The Nationals stretched him out to 61 pitches, so he's an obvious alternative for the rotation if Strasburg needs a stint on the DL. It's also possible that Joe Ross could be called back up from the minors. It's nice to have quality options.

Tanner Roark took a beating, yielding eight runs in 3 1/3 innings in a loss in the second game of Sunday's doubleheader against the Phillies.

Advice: Death by singles. 11 of the 12 hits Roark allowed were of the one-base variety, but the Phillies did a good job of bunching them up, plating four runs in each of the second and fourth innings. Roark also walked one without recording a strikeout. He should return to the Nationals' bullpen after this effort. He has a 4.34 ERA, a 1.32 WHIP, and a 26/11 K/BB ratio in 56 innings.

Tanner Roark will start the second game of Sunday's doubleheader against the Phillies.

Advice: The 28-year-old right-hander owns a 3.25 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 26/10 K/BB ratio over 52 2/3 innings on the season. He should make for a nice streaming option against the struggling Phillies offense.
