Player Notes
Brad Miller collected his eighth homer and his 12th double Friday against the A's.

Advice: It's Miller's second homer in four games. His struggles in limited action against left-handers have taken a toll on his numbers, but he's hitting .267/.357/.487 versus righties.

Despite the return of Chris Taylor, Mariners manager Lloyd McClendon clarified Thursday that Brad Miller will remain the team's starting shortstop.

Advice: The 25-year-old has struggled at the dish this season, slashing .238/.319/.403 with seven homers and 22 RBI in his 74 games. It sounds like it's a vote of confidence from the skipper, but if Taylor continues to mash the baseball he'll find his way into more playing time soon enough.

Brad Miller launched a two-run home run in a 2-for-4 effort as the Mariners shut the Padres out 5-0 on Tuesday.

Advice: Miller took Ian Kennedy out to right-center in the fourth inning for a two-run homer, making it a 4-0 Mariners lead at the time. It's his seventh homer of the season. He looks certain to surpass his career high of 10 set last season. He's also knocked in 22 runs while batting a passable .237/.316/.404.
