Player Notes
Yasiel Puig popped out as a pinch-hitter in the 13th inning Friday against the Cardinals.

Advice: Puig didn't start because of a minor right hamstring injury, and he remains day-to-day.

Yasiel Puig (hamstring) is absent from the Dodgers' lineup Friday.

Advice: Puig tweaked his right hamstring on Thursday. It doesn't appear that it's a potential disabled list injury at this point, but with his history of hammy issues you never know. Scott Van Slyke is filling in in right field.

Kenley Jansen earned his 28th save of the season Wednesday afternoon at Nationals Park.

Advice: Jansen gave up a one-out single to Bryce Harper, but he retired the other three batters he faced to easily protect the Dodgers' three-run lead. Jansen boasts a 1.30 ERA, 0.70 WHIP, and 53/7 K/BB ratio in 41 2/3 innings this season, to go along with the 28 saves.

Yasiel Puig left Thursday's game against the Nationals with right hamstring tightness.

Advice: Puig tweaked his right hammy while trying to beat out a grounder to third base in the top of the seventh inning. Scott Van Slyke took over in right field in the bottom of the seventh. This is not the same hamstring Puig injured in June, but he did have serious problems with it in 2015. Another trip back to the disabled list is a real possibility.

Yasiel Puig was removed from Thursday's game against the Nationals with an apparent hamstring injury.

Advice: Puig entered the game in right field in the bottom of the sixth but then appeared to tweak something while trying to leg out a grounder in his first at-bat in the top of the seventh. Scott Van Slyke took over in right field in the bottom of the seventh. Puig was limited to 79 games in 2015 because of hamstring problems and he spent time on the disabled list this June with the same type of issue. More awful injury news for Los Angeles.

Yasiel Puig doubled in three at-bats in the Dodgers' loss on Wednesday.

Advice: Puig's lackluster numbers this season show no signs of getting better. He is batting .257 with a disappointing .698 OPS. He has seven home ru ns and 32 RBI. Puig is blessed with all five tools but has not been able to convert that talent into results this year. He is only 25 years old and could break out at any time.

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that the Dodgers are open to trading Yasiel Puig.

Advice: This would have been an unthinkable scenario not too long ago, but Puig's development has stalled over the past couple of years, so the Dodgers are at least weighing the possibility. While he has hit better since coming off disabled list, he has a disappointing .700 OPS on the year. Still, the Dodgers could find a team who believes in a rebound and would be willing to take a chance on his personality. He's just 25 years old, after all. He's also owed just $14 million over the next two seasons. Rosenthal speculates that the Dodgers could look to the trade market for another outfielder.
