Player Notes
FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that the Cubs are among the teams in "ongoing dialogue" with the Indians regarding Carlos Carrasco.

Advice: The Cubs seem determined to land a cost-controlled young starter, as they've also been talking to the Padres about Tyson Ross. It would take a hefty price to get Carrasco, as he's on a team-friendly four-year, $22 million contract and has flashed ace ability. The Red Sox and Dodgers are among the other clubs pursuing Carrasco, but really most any team would probably consider given his contract and upside.

Carlos Carrasco fired a complete game Thursday against the Athletics, allowing only one run on two hits in a 3-1 triumph.

Advice: Both hits came in the first inning. The dominant outing wasn't much of a surprise. Against a punchless lineup in a spacious park, Carrasco -- 3-0 with a 1.98 ERA in his previous four road starts -- did not disappoint. He struck out seven and was never in danger of getting pulled, finishing off Oakland in a tidy 103 pitches. It was the third consecutive complete game thrown by an Indians starter. Carrasco improves to 11-8 with a 4.03 ERA and 1.15 WHIP.

Carlos Carrasco struggled in Saturday's loss to the White Sox, yielding six runs on seven hits over four innings.

Advice: Carrasco had issues out of the gate in this one, with five runs scoring in the first inning. Melky Cabrera, Jose Abreu and Tyler Flowers all burned him for RBI singles to account for the slew of runs in the frame. He calmed down after the barrage, but his team was unable to claw their way out from the early deficit. Overall, he struck out five and walked two over his four innings of work. Carrasco has shown an ability to dominate at times, but he's yet to put together a truly consistent stretch this season, as evidenced by his 4.26 ERA. He pairs that ERA with a 1.21 WHIP and 133/26 K/BB ratio over 118 1/3 innings and is scheduled to take to the road against the A's in his next start.

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that the Blue Jays "made a big push" for Carlos Carrasco, but "didn't get it done."

Advice: This backs up Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports' report from Thursday that the Jays had talked to the Indians about the right-hander. It doesn't look like a trade will happen, though. Carrasco is signed a team-friendly four-year, $22 million contract and has flashed ace ability, so it wouldn't really make sense for Cleveland to trade him.

According to Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports, the Indians are "willing to listen on pitching, particularly Carlos Carrasco."

Advice: Passan notes that the Indians and Blue Jays have talked and suggests that Carrasco could be a fit for Toronto. Carrasco has taken a step back this season after his tremendous 2014, but he'd still be a tremendous addition for any contender. The 28-year-old right-hander boasts a 3.19 ERA, 1.07 WHIP, and 268/53 K/BB ratio over his last 248 1/3 innings. He signed a team-friendly four-year, $22 million contract extension this spring.
