Advice: The procedure was called a "labral repair." Ryu will wind up missing the entire 2015 season, but he should be ready for the start of spring training next February. The 28-year-old left-hander from South Korea boasts a 3.17 ERA over his first 344 major league innings. He is under contract with Los Angeles through 2018.Rotoworld
Advice: Mark Saxon of ESPN Los Angeles reported the news on Wednesday morning, and now the Dodgers have confirmed it. An MRI taken earlier this week showed no major structural damage in Ryu's shoulder, but the cleanup procedure Thursday is sure to end his season anyway. He should be 100 percent for the start of spring training in 2016.

Advice: It had been looking that way, although Dodgers president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman said Tuesday that no decision had been made yet. The good news is that an MRI showed no tear in Ryu's labrum or any other structural damage, so the procedure would be of the clean-up variety. Still, it's almost surely going to end his season.

Advice: Friedman also confirmed Jeff Passan's previous report that surgery is just one of the options Ryu is considering at the moment. He added that more should be known on Ryu's status Wednesday, so it appears he'll reveal a decision then. An operation would almost surely knock him out for the season.

Advice: Reports out of Korea suggest that surgery could happen this week, but Passan hears that a final decision hasn't been made. The southpaw has been shut down since mid-March and recently encountered a setback. Regardless of whether he has the surgery or not, the Dodgers aren't going to have him in their rotation anytime soon and will likely turn to the trade front soon.

Advice: Earlier this May, Mattingly said that Ryu's rehab had "slowed down a little bit." His comments on Friday indicate that things are still moving slowly. Ryu's going to need to start throwing before a return date can really be set in place. As is, it's possible he returns by late June or early July, though there are a lot of steps in the process that need to be passed with health before that's possible.
