Player Notes
Angels manager Mike Scioscia said Kole Calhoun will miss 4-6 weeks with a bad ligament sprain in his ankle.

Advice: It's a tough blow to the Angels and fantasy owners, as Calhoun was really turning it on before the injury. Calhoun had seven hits in his last 15 at-bats prior to rolling his ankle late in Wednesday's game. The Angels will rely on Collin Cowgill and Brennan Boesch in right field for the time being, but the team may take a look at external options now that Calhoun will be out for a significant period.

Angels placed OF Kole Calhoun on the 15-day disabled list with a sprained right ankle.

Advice: Calhoun rolled the ankle in the 11th inning of Tuesday's game, and it was immediately clear he was headed for a DL stint. Calhoun was on crutches in the clubhouse after the game, saying the ankle "hurt real bad." Hopefully it's just a 15-day thing and won't require a longer stay. Brennan Boesch was recalled to take his roster spot.

Angels manager Mike Scioscia told the media after Tuesday's game that Kole Calhoun (ankle) is heading for the disabled list.

Advice: Calhoun will join Josh Hamilton on the shelf after painfully rolling his ankle running through first base in the 11st inning. "I just rolled it and it hurt real bad," said Calhoun, who was on crutches after the game. "It's just a freak thing, you know?" We won't know Calhoun's timeline until he's further evaluated. The San Francisco Chronicle's Susan Slusser wondered on Twitter whether Los Angeles could target Sam Fuld, who was recently waived by the A's. Unless they bring somebody else in, Collin Cowgill is likely in line for more at-bats in the near future.

Kole Calhoun left Tuesday's game against the A's in the 11th inning after rolling his ankle.

Advice: Calhoun grounded out to second and caught his foot in the dirt when he tried to stop his momentum after crossing first base. In clear agony, but never hitting the ground, Calhoun didn't put any weight on his ankle as he was helped off the field. We should know more about his status on Wednesday. Hopefully he doesn't require a DL stint, because Calhoun has collected three straight multi-hit games and blasted a homer tonight while finishing 3-for-6.
