Colt Keith, this year's Tigers rookie star, with big seasons forecasted, had just signed at age 22 a $28.5 million six-year deal that potentially could morph into a nine-year, $82 million package even before Keith had played a single big-league game. Jacob Turner thought about it that day from his office in Creve Coeur, Missouri, where he and his brother, Luke, head Moment Private Wealth. This news had ties to a man who in 2009, at the age of 18, was a Tigers first-round pick (ninth overall), signing a $5.5 million deal weeks after wrapping up high school. Turner hoped this would be a happier baseball story than it had been for a young man who in 2012 was traded to the Miami Marlins in a billboard deal that brought pitcher Anibal Sanchez to Detroit.
