Player Notes
Royals signed LHP Travis Wood to a two-year, $12 million contract with a mutual option for 2019.

Advice: The deal is now official. According to Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports, Wood will make $4 million in 2017 and $6.5 million in 2018 while the mutual option is worth $8 million and carries a $1.5 million buyout. Wood pitched exclusively out of the bullpen with the Cubs last season while posting a 2.95 ERA and 47/24 K/BB ratio over 61 innings, but he's expected to compete with Nate Karns and Chris Young for the fifth spot in the Royals' rotation.

ESPN's Jerry Crasnick reports that Travis Wood is signing with the Royals.

Advice: Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports says it's a two-year, $12 million contract. Wood pitched exclusively out of the bullpen with the Cubs last season, but he should get a chance to compete with Nate Karns and Matt Strahm for the final spot in the Royals' rotation. The left-hander made an All-Star team as a starter in 2013 when he posted a 3.11 ERA, but he held a 5.03 mark in 2014 in his last full year as a starter.

According to Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports, free agent Travis Wood is nearing a deal with a club.

Advice: Heyman says an announcement could come Monday. Wood has been searching for a starting job this winter after posting an impressive 2.95 ERA in 61 innings of relief last season for the Cubs. Many teams have already opened camp, but the 30-year-old left-hander should still do quite well from a financial standpoint no matter the role. He's been linked to a range of landing spots.

Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reports that the Cubs have made offers to free agent left-hander Travis Wood.

Advice: The 30-year-old southpaw has pitched for the Cubs for the last five seasons, but would continue to be used in a swingman role and he has a desire to start. The Padres and at least two other teams remain in the mix for Wood's services.
