Player Notes
Josh Reddick went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI to lead the Athletics past the Rangers 6-3 on Tuesday.

Advice: Reddick hit a two-run home run in the fourth inning and added an RBI single an inning later. It was a nice little showcase for the 29-year-old, who has been the subject of trade rumors in recent days. His .296/.373/.442 line has certainly increased his value, as have his seven homers, 27 RBI, 30 runs scored and four steals this year. We'll know soon enough whether the big night was his last as a member of the A's.

Josh Reddick (back) has returned to the Athletics' starting lineup Monday against the Rangers.

Advice: Reddick missed consecutive starts over the weekend due to back soreness, but he was able to play some defense on Sunday. It's not a major concern.

Josh Reddick (back) played an inning of right field Sunday in the A's defeat of the Rays.

Advice: That's a pretty good indication that his return to the starting lineup is imminent. Reddick has been bothered by a sore back since Saturday. It's nothing serious.

Josh Reddick (back) remained out of the Athletics' lineup Sunday.

Advice: It's a second straight game that he's missed due to a sore back. Reddick is considered day-to-day. Jake Smolinski is in right field Sunday.

Josh Reddick was scratched from the A's lineup on Saturday due to back soreness.

Advice: It sounds like a day-to-day type of thing. Reddick has posted a cool .295/.374/.433 batting line in 61 games this season and will be a big trade chip for the Athletics ahead of the August 1 non-waiver deadline. There is known to be interest from the Cubs.

According to Jon Morosi of MLB Network, the Cubs are "looking at" A's outfielder Josh Reddick.

Advice: Morosi notes that Cubs president Theo Epstein drafted Reddick in Boston back in 2006. It's been a frustrating 2016 for the 29-year-old outfielder, who missed part of May and most of June with a fractured thumb, but he has been a productive hitter when healthy for going on five years and he's only owed about $3 million on his current contract. Reddick can become a free agent this winter.

Josh Reddick hit a walk-off, opposite-field RBI single to beat the Astros in the 10th inning of Tuesday night's 4-3 victory.

Advice: Reddick didn't exactly scald the walk-off winner against Tony Sipp, but as the old adage goes, he just needed to hit it where they ain't. In this case, the Astros employed the shift when Reddick stepped to the plate. He proceeded to hit an opposite-field grounder that would have likely been gobbled up by Carlos Correa had the shift not been on. As is, the ball just squeaked through to score Marcus Semien. For the season as a whole, Reddick is slashing .298/.378/.439 with six homers and 23 RBI over 205 at-bats.
