Garcia gave up two runs on seven hits while striking out seven and walking one over seven innings against the Padres on Monday night.
Recommendation: He did not factor in the decision, however, as the Cards' offense managed to take the lead for good against Andrew Cashner in the bottom of the eighth inning. Garcia continues to do an excellent job of keeping the ball in the park as he's allowed just one homer through 58.1 innings this season. Garcia lines up for a home start against the Phillies for his next outing.

LHP Jaime Garcia was called for a balk, the Cardinals' first of the season. Garcia got his glove caught in his shirt as he brought his hands up, and then he stumbled as he tried to step off the rubber after his fumble on the mound. He said that was the first time that had ever happened to him.
