May 22 Jaime Garcia was diagnosed with a 30-40 percent tear of the labrum in his left shoulder.

Advice: Dr. James Andrews recommended surgery and reportedly expressed amazement that Garcia pitched as well as he did earlier this season under the circumstances. The Cardinals' team doctor will perform the shoulder procedure. It's safe to say that Garcia will not contribute in a meaningful way for the rest of the 2013 season.
