Player Notes
Jaime Garcia held the Rockies to one run in five-plus innings, but was left with a no-decision as the Cardinals pulled out a walk-off 3-2 victory against the Rockies on Sunday.

Advice: Garcia had kept the Rockies off the board in his first five innings, but allowed a leadoff single to D.J. LeMahieu in the sixth before departing. Reliever Steve Cishek struggled and allowed Garcia's runner to score in a two-run frame. Garcia gave up only two hits and struck out four, but also walked four in an inefficient, 88-pitch outing. The lefty has a 1.98 ERA, a 0.92 WHIP, and a 41/13 K/BB ratio over 59 innings in nine starts this season. He'll toe the rubber against the Brewers in a road start next.

Sun, Aug 2 Rotoworld
Jaime Garcia pitched well in defeat in his return to the mound Tuesday, allowing three runs over six innings in a loss to the Reds.

Advice: Garcia only yielded four hits while walking two on the night, but one of those was a three-run homer by Joey Votto in the sixth inning. He was otherwise sharp, striking out five while throwing just 80 pitches. Garcia was activated from the disabled list earlier Tuesday after missing a month with a groin strain. He owns a 2.00 ERA and 0.89 WHIP despite a 3-4 record, and Garcia will square off with the Rockies on Sunday.

Tue, Jul 28 Rotoworld
Cardinals activated LHP Jaime Garcia from the 15-day disabled list.

Advice: Garcia has missed over a month with a groin strain, but he'll make his return Tuesday against the Reds. The southpaw has a 1.69 ERA and 32/7 K/BB ratio in 48 innings over seven starts this season and should be relevant in mixed fantasy leagues as long as he has a rotation spot.

Tue, Jul 28 Rotoworld
Jaime Garcia (groin) will rejoin the Cardinals' rotation on Tuesday against the Reds.

Advice: It was expected and manager Mike Matheny confirmed the news on Sunday. Garcia has missed over a month of action with a strained groin but spun five hitless innings in his lone rehab start last week to show the Cards that he was ready. Fantasy owners can feel free to plug the southpaw back into their lineups for the upcoming week.

Sun, Jul 26 Rotoworld
Cardinals manager Mike Matheny said Jaime Garcia (groin) could return to the rotation Tuesday against the Reds.

Advice: It would be a home start for Garcia, who has excellent career numbers at Busch Stadium. He threw the first five innings of a combined no-hitter Thursday at Low-A Peoria. It was his lone rehab start. Tim Cooney was optioned to Triple-A Memphis on Saturday to open up a rotation spot.
