Player Notes
Jerry Crasnick of ESPN reports that the Mets have interest in acquiring Steve Pearce, though the cost to acquire him is higher than they're willing to pay at this time.

Advice: The hard-hitting right-hander would provide a nice boost in the middle of the Mets lineup and his versatility would certainly help as well. Pearce, who is set to hit free agency after the season, is hitting .313/.390/.527 with 10 homers and 29 RBI in 59 games this season.

Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports reports that Steve Pearce "will be dealt."

Advice: As a versatile impending free agent who's hitting .312/.384/.528, it's no surprise that Pearce is expected to be on the move. The Indians are known to have interest in Pearce, although there figure to be other clubs involved. The Giants had been in the mix but are now likely out after acquiring Eduardo Nunez.

The New York Post's Joel Sherman reports that the Indians are "among several teams" who have asked about Steve Pearce.

Advice: The Indians have been tied to several players in trade rumors. In addition to Pearce, they have reportedly been looking into Eduardo Nunez, Will Smith and Jonathan Lucroy. Pearce, 33, is slashing .313/.386/.530 with 10 homers and 29 RBI over 198 at-bats. He has notched double-digit home runs in three consecutive seasons.

ESPN's Jerry Crasnick reports that the Rays "are getting some calls" on Steve Pearce and there's a "decent chance he gets moved by the deadline."

Advice: It makes sense that there would be interest in Pearce, as he's a versatile player who's having a great year with a .322/.393/.522 batting line. He's also owed less than $2 million for the rest of the season before hitting free agency this winter. Crasnick lists the Giants and Indians as clubs that are "among potential fits" for Pearce, with the Mets also a potential possibility.

Steve Pearce is not in the Rays starting lineup on Thursday.

Advice: It's just a routine day off for Pearce, who played in two straight games after being activated from the disabled list on Tuesday. Look for him back in his customary cleanup spot in the order on Friday.
