Player Notes
Tigers acquired RHP Joakim Soria from the Rangers for RHPs Jake Thompson and Corey Knebel.

Advice: In Soria, the Tigers are acquiring one of the best and most experienced closers on the trade market. Soria has a 2.70 ERA, 0.87 WHIP and 42/4 K/BB ratio over 33 1/3 innings this season, saving 17 games for the beleaguered Rangers. Tigers manager Brad Ausmus has a decision to make as to how he wants to handle the closing duties between Soria and current closer Joe Nathan, so fantasy owners should pay attention to Ausmus' words and actions over the next few days. Neither closer should be dropped in fantasy leagues until one or the other is anointed as the clear-cut stopper.

A source tells Scout.com's Kyle Bogenschutz that the Rangers have agreed to trade Joakim Soria to the Tigers.

Advice: Bogenschutz hears Corey Knebel and Jake Thompson, two right-handers in the Tigers' system, will go the other way in the deal. In Soria, the Tigers are acquiring a pitcher with a 2.70 ERA and 0.87 WHIP who has saved 17 games for the Rangers this season. Given Joe Nathan's struggles in Detroit, Soria could immediately take over as the ninth-inning reliever for the Tigers.

Joakim Soria blew his second save of the season, forking over a run in the bottom of the 13th inning as the Rangers went on to lose in 14.

Advice: The Rangers had taken a 1-0 lead on J.P. Arencibia's 13th-inning solo home run, but Soria immediately got into trouble, allowing a lead-off double to Brett Gardner in the bottom half. Jacoby Ellsbury later knocked Gardner in with a single. Soria is now 17-for-19 in save chances with a 2.70 ERA, 0.87 WHIP, and a 42/4 K/BB ratio.

FOX Sports' Jon Morosi reports that the Tigers are having "ongoing discussions" with the Rangers regarding Joakim Soria.

Advice: The Angels and Blue Jays have also been connected to Soria. The Tigers are committed to keeping Joe Nathan in the closer role, so Soria would be used as a setup man if acquired. They're also looking at former Tiger and current Padre Joaquin Benoit. The veteran reliever boasts a 2.67 ERA and 40/4 K/BB ratio over 30 1/3 innings this season for the Rangers.
