Player Notes
Joey Votto launched a three-run homer in Monday's loss to the Giants.

Advice: Votto took former teammate Johnny Cueto deep in the middle of a six-run third inning for the Reds before the club watched their horrid bullpen inevitably cough up the lead. It was the first baseman's lone hit on the night in four trips to the plate, but he'll take it given his struggles so far this season.

Joey Votto went 1-for-2 with a single in Sunday's loss to the Cubs.

Advice: As a team, the Reds had just three singles. One by Votto, one by Eugenio Suarez and one by Tucker Barnhart. And that, as they say, is all she wrote. The 32-year-old Votto has struggled through the first three weeks of the 2016 season and is hitting just .206/.295/.309 with two homers and nine RBI across 68 at-bats. His is a dependable bat, though, and there is no tangible reason owners should worry over a garden variety slump.
