Matsuzaka (shoulder/neck) has been cleared to resume throwing and will start for Triple-A Pawtucket on Saturday, the Boston Globe reports.
Recommendation: Now that Boston has maneuvered him off of his first rehabilitation assignment, a new 30-day clock can start for Matsuzaka, who received a cortisone shot in his neck for a strained trapezius muscle. In theory, Matsuzaka could pitch for Boston at any time because he's been stretched out -- he pitched 6.2 innings in his final rehab start before the neck injury shut him down.

RHP Daisuke Matsuzaka will make his next rehab start Saturday for Class AAA Pawtucket after he was shut down for seven days because of stiffness in his right trapezius muscle. He's still less than a year removed from undergoing Tommy John elbow surgery. Matsuzaka wasn't particularly sharp during his first five minor league starts, posting a 4.62 ERA and completing six innings only once before receiving an injection to relieve the stiffness in his neck. The initial 30-day rehab assignment was due to expire this week, but because the Red Sox shut down Matsuzaka with the new ailment, they were able to extend the rehab window and start a new 30-day clock.
