Jimenez struck out a career high 11 on Saturday against the Padres but took the loss. He gave up five hits, three walks and three earned runs in 6.2 innings.
Recommendation: Jimenez deserved better in this one. He allowed two walks in front of a three-run homer and that was all the offense the Padres needed. Jimenez is solidifying his spot in Colorado's rotation. Don't overreact to the 11 strikeouts, though, because the Padres have a weak lineup and his previous season high was six.

RHP Ubaldo Jimenez starts on Saturday at San Diego, coming off a no-decision in Rockies 6-5 loss to St. Louis on Monday. He allowed three runs in five innings. Rockies are 1-6 in his starts, losing last five games. He has failed to pitch more than five innings in five of seven starts. He is 0-2 with a 6.26 ERA in five starts on the road.
