Player Notes
Jered Weaver (hip) will begin a rehab assignment with High-A Inland Empire on Thursday.

Advice: Weaver's recovery from left hip irritation has dragged on a bit longer than expected, and with the Angels' rotation pitching so well they can afford to take their time. It's possible Thursday's rehab start will be the only one Weaver requires.

Jered Weaver (hip) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session on Friday.

Advice: Weaver had hoped to return to the Angels rotation immediately following the All-Star break, but he has been slow to progress in his recovery from his left hip irritation. If everything goes well on Friday, he could be cleared for a minor league rehab assignment, where he'll likely make just one start before his return.

Jered Weaver (hip) said he's "not yet" ready to return to the Angels' rotation.

Advice: "Not yet," Weaver said Wednesday, following a 60-pitch simulated game on Tuesday. "It's just not there yet." It was originally hoped Weaver could return to the Angels' rotation following the simulated game, but now it appears he'll need another sim game or a rehab start before returning. Either way, Tuesday was a step in the right direction and he seems to be close to a return.

Jered Weaver (hip) could rejoin the Angels' rotation next week.

Advice: Weaver threw a successful 60-pitch simulated game on Tuesday. "The way he pitched today, that stuff is pretty much what we’ve seen Weave have," manager Mike Scioscia said. It's possible the Halos will have Weaver make a rehab start first, although from the way Scioscia is talking it sounds like he thinks the right-hander is ready to rejoin the big club's rotation.

Angels manager Mike Scioscia said Monday that Jered Weaver (hip) is a "long shot" to pitch on Friday when the club needs another starter.

Advice: Weaver will throw a simulated game on Tuesday, and it appears that the Angels will either have him thrown an additional sim game after that or possibly make a rehab start. Nick Tropeano looks like the most likely candidate for a spot start on Friday.
