Nelson Cruz (foot) is out of the Mariners' starting lineup Wednesday against the Pirates.

Advice: Cruz left Tuesday's game after fouling a ball off his foot. It's just sore, and he's considered day-to-day. Seth Smith is starting in right field for the M's on Wednesday night at PNC Park in Pittsburgh.

Nelson Cruz was lifted from Tuesday's game against the Pirates because of a sore foot.

Advice: Cruz fouled a ball off his foot early Tuesday night and looked to be laboring as he ran from first base to third base on a Kyle Seager double in the top of the seventh. It doesn't sound like anything too serious, but the big slugger figures to get a full day off Wednesday as a precautionary measure.

Nelson Cruz made an early exit from Tuesday's game against the Pirates with an apparent leg injury.

Advice: Cruz was moving gingerly as he went from first to third on a Kyle Seager double in the top of the seventh inning and Franklin Gutierrez took over in right field in the bottom of the seventh. There should be an update from the Mariners within the hour.

Nelson Cruz had a monster day at the dish on Saturday, blasting two long balls and plating seven runs in a 14-5 rout of the Blue Jays.

Advice: Cruz got the party started in the third inning with a grand slam off of Blue Jays starter R.A. Dickey. He then capped off the offense for the M's with a towering three-run shot off Drew Storen in the eighth. He finished the afternoon 2-for-5 and is now hitting an impressive .288/.372/.548 with 25 homers and 65 RBI on the year.
