Dustin Pedroia (wrist) was given a cortisone injection Tuesday and is aiming to return on Wednesday.

Advice: Pedroia underwent tests on his left wrist Monday in Boston, which revealed only inflammation and no major structural damage. Jonathan Herrera is playing second base and Ryan Roberts is playing third base in Tuesday night's series-opener against the White Sox.

Dustin Pedroia (wrist) is not in the Red Sox starting lineup Tuesday night against the White Sox.

Advice: Pedroia was diagnosed Monday with inflammation in his left wrist after undergoing a range of tests back in Boston. He is expected to avoid the disabled list, but there is no timetable yet for his return to the lineup.

Tests taken Monday on Dustin Pedroia's left wrist showed no fracture or structural damage.

Advice: Pedroia has been diagnosed with left wrist inflammation and should avoid a stint on the 15-day disabled list. He tweaked the wrist during an opening-week game against the Brewers when he landed hard on the ground while attempting to turn a doubleplay. The Red Sox open a three-game road series with the White Sox on Tuesday.

Pete Abraham of the Boston Globe hears from sources that Dustin Pedroia's wrist injury is not serious.

Advice: Pedroia is in Boston on Monday for tests on the wrist, which he injured in an April 4 game against the Brewers. The second baseman has not yet been placed on the disabled list and might be able to avoid an extended absence. The Red Sox will open a three-game set in Chicago (against the White Sox) on Tuesday night.

Dustin Pedroia will head back to Boston to get his sore left wrist examined on Monday.

Advice: The team doesn't believe that the injury is serious, but with the off-day they'll run the necessary tests to be sure. He's expected to rejoin the team for Tuesday's game against the White Sox in Chicago.

Dustin Pedroia was scratched from the Red Sox lineup on Sunday due to a sore left wrist.

Advice: Pedroia suffered the injury on a slide against the Brewers earlier in the week and has been playing through the pain. He's a gamer and chooses to tough out most injuries, so expect him to avoid the disabled list.

Dustin Pedroia has been scratched from the Red Sox starting lineup on Sunday.

Advice: No word yet on the reason for the late scratch. Jonathan Herrera will take his place at second base and hit eighth, while Grady Sizemore will bat leadoff for the Red Sox.

Sun, Apr 13 Rotoworld
Dustin Pedroia is batting out of the leadoff spot in the Red Sox lineup on Saturday.

Advice: Manager John Farrell continues to experiment with different options atop the lineup with Shane Victorino still sidelined. He's off to a slow start at the plate this season, slashing .240/.240/.520 with one RBI in his first 11 games, so perhaps the shift in the order will get him going.
